World Blind Union Asia Pacific Region Mid-term Assembly held in Shenzhen during March 21-23,2007 was sponsored by China Disabled Persons' Federation and China Association.of the Blind, and undertaken by Shenzhen Disabled Persons' Federation. Over 150 delegates from 17 countries' blind associations in Asia-pacific region and World Blind Uniton attended the meetings. Mr. Shen Zhifei, Vice-president of China Disabled Persons' Federation presented and addressed at the opening ceremony.

The assembly provides an important exchange platform for people who are dedicated to serving the visually impaired and building an accommodationg society in Asia Pacific region.This assembly focuss on blindness prevntion in Asia Pacific region, blind woment's role, taping potential and utilizing science and technology to assist people with visual disability,etc. It will accelerate the course of exchange and cooperation in the field of blindness amang Asia-pacific countries.

The WBU has been uniting and leading people with visual disablility across the world in fighting for their equal rights and oportunityies since its establishment in 1984. It has played an important role in advancing the world blindiness movement as well as the international disablility movement. In Asia-pacific region, the WBUAP is also very active. In particular, it has made a great contrbution in guiding the blindeness movement in the developing countries of this region. And over the many years, the CDPF has manitained a close contact and pleasant cooperation with the WBU and WBUAP. We share the mommon pursuit of equal participation of people with visual disablility into sosial activities.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen Resource Center of Assistive Technology has displayed new blind assistive technology in the meeting hall.
