SZDPF offered 26 blind persons GPS positioning navigation January 17 2008. SZDPF vice president Zhu shaoming attended and gave speech at the ceremony of GPS Navigation project for the blind. Shenzhen Labor Employment Service Center director Li Xixin presided over the ceremony.

The GPS navigation reciving teminal will be as eyes of the blind to help them better go out of home. It was said Shenzhen is the first city in the country and then make China the second country after United States to free offer the blind GPS navigation in the world. As an action of Shenzhen Concern project, this service reflects the great care from the government for the disabled.

It was reported that there are 578 blind persons (including visually impaired) with household registration in the city. As visual disability, they have been facing the problem of outgoing. Unable to go out of home makes them hard to achieve participating in social practice and difficult in employment and so difficult in live.

To help the blind go out of home, Shenzhen Labor Employment Service Center, Xiaxin Electronics company and Guangzhou Aiman company jointly to research the GPS navigation. The receiving terminal sets positioning, navigation and communications as one, providing positioning, navigation and call service.

The service will cover all the blind of or over 18 aged in the city, according to SZDPF.
